The Quick Spring Designer improves productivity by cutting out guesswork.

This software is aimed at machine designers, mechanical product designers, spring manufacturers and anyone looking for a speedy, effortless method of designing any one of a number of spring types, The Quick Spring Designer bypasses conventional trial and error procedures to produce a spring design in a matter of seconds.

In comparison with other spring design software, the Quick Spring Designer departs from traditional methods by only requiring input of the space and performance requirements to quickly produce a design, without the designer having to make a preliminary guess at mean diameter, wire diameter, number of coils, free length and so on.

An "Experience Factor" can be input by those skilled in the art who know from experience that allowable stresses can be modified to account for such operations as high-heat stress equalizing, presetting, shot-peening etc. There are many other useful features that are listed at the bottom of this page.

The Quick Spring Designer software was introduced in DOS format in 1995 and now runs under Windows 95, NT 3.51 and all later versions. The current Version 4.1a of the software has been extensively rewritten to improve design accuracy, consistency and efficiency. It only requires 11 MB of hard drive space after installation. A 97 page Users Guide is included on the CD.

Please feel free to browse through this site to see examples of the software at work. You can click on the navigation buttons above, or the icons below to see how each spring type is dealt with.

The following features are included, when applicable, for most of the spring types in this program:

  • English or Metric units
  • Decimal or standard gage wire sizes
  • Static or dynamic load conditions
  • Operating temperature compensation
  • Capability of designing from scratch, or analyzing existing spring designs
  • Efficient interaction between the input and output screens providing immediate assessment of revisions to the input factors
  • Choice of 13 wire specifications, 8 flat strip specs, 13 disc spring materials — or the designer's own material specs
  • Life requirement, or estimated life expectancy
  • Provision for experienced designers to adjust permissible stresses to compensate for mechanical or thermal post treatment
  • Warning of undesirable results of input values with recommended course of correction.
  • Printout of input factors, results and warnings
  • Graphic printout with editable heading, suitable for ordering springs or for presentation to customers
  • Dedicated database for storage of results
